The traditions of the Boy Scouts of America are under continual attack. Ever since these boys and men stood up against the homosexual lawsuits of the recent past and won, the attacks from without have continued from within under the mis-leadership of Robert Gates and Randall Stephenson. Gays and now transgendered boys are allowed in the ranks of the Boy Scouts. The recent changes are a reflection of the problems of a contemporary society, which is also reflected in the changes of our popular super heroes.
A little background. Two years of the Scouts began in England (1907/1909), an American publisher, William Boyce, lost his way in the fog of London. A young Boy Scout who saw Mr. Boyce helped him find his way to his destination but refused to receive a tip for his good deed. As he departed he explained that Scouts do not accept payment for doing a good deed. The popular ethos of heroic Scouts who come to the rescue and then leave before they can receive anything from it began. The following year Boyce organized the Boy Scouts of America in 1910, following the ethos of this memorable deed.
This tradition became an ethos of Scouting nationwide. It was so powerful that when DC and Marvel Comics produced their comic book heroes, they included this ethos into their characters. After serving people with some acts of heroism, the superhero, like the scout, would refuse offers of a reward and vanish from view. As the Boy Scouts are under attack by the LGBT community, this tradition and ethos of the Boy Scouts is also under attack in the modern era in which we live.
DC Comics’ Super Man and Batman, Marvel Comics’ Captain America, and the TV shows of superheroes like Batman and the Lone Ranger are all characterized the Boy Scout ethos. Not only did these superheroes serve America with their heroic deeds, they served children with their moral fiber and clean living. A look back into the past shows these superheroes reflecting the norms of society at large that was generally moral. They fought injustice, wars, and the occasional supervillain. Today, each of these superheroes have been recast with a dark spirit at one time or another. With the remake of Batman as the Dark Night, there is little difference between the hero and the villain.
Modern American pop culture has dismissed the values of the past leading to the corruption of a once solid institution of our nation, the Boy Scouts of America. The twisted ideas of sexual perversion that were once opposed by them are now being championed by a corrupt leadership within the Scouts. Sadly, none dare call the LGBT influence on children child abuse or contributing to the delinquency of minors. Certainly, minor children who claim to be gay or transgender are subject to influences beyond their control as they are led to believe the lies of the LGBT community and possibly practice their deviant sexual behavior.
The Scout Oath has no meaning in the context of the decision to include gays and transgendered children in the Boy Scouts. The original oath reads:
On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
The ideas of LGBT society are far from being morally straight. It is time for the superheroes of Scouting to understand their mission, which is to redeem those children who claim to be gay or transgendered and lead them into morally straight lifestyle. Even though Scouts are ordered by their leadership to open the doors to these people, it doesn’t mean that they have to throw away their minds (mentally awake) and their morals in responding to these orders.
The Boy Scouts can be a point of rescue for these boys as they’re led away from such immoral and mentally ill influences and behavior. Once again it is time for the Scouts to do good deeds for those who have lost their way in the fog. The superhero ethos that began the Scouting tradition in America can come to the rescue once again with the superheroes of the American Boy Scouts!
For those children captured in the snare of lies, deceit, and sin, please pray this prayer:
God of heaven, I believe in Jesus Christ who died on the Cross for me. I believe that he paid for the penalty of my sin, which I admit I have done. I ask for your forgiveness of my sin and thank you for your love. Please bring me closer to you so that I may know you. By your Holy Spirit, please make in me a clean heart, a renewed spirit, and a right mind that I may do those things that are pleasing to you. Thank you God, Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, and now my Father in Heaven. Amen!
